Setting up a proxy on a ServiceNav Box

The ServiceNav Box is installed on your network but does not have direct access to the SaaS platform.

Access to the outside world requires a proxy.

It is therefore necessary to go via this proxy in order to retrieve the box configuration and to establish the VPN link with the platform.


Before running the script

Set the environment variables for the proxy to be used when retrieving certificates

export http_proxy=http://serveur:port

export https_proxy=http://serveur:port

If the proxy requires authentication, add the following variables by filling in the user/password

export proxy_user=user

export proxy_password=password

Configure the openvpn client to use the proxy.

Edit the file /etc/openvpn/client.conf.

Modify the following lines:

;http-proxy-retry # retry on connection failures

http-proxy [proxy server] [proxy port #]

In order to preserve the configuration following a reboot of the box, you must save the environment variables in the file /etc/environment









Check the domain names used in /etc/hostsand add them if necessary to NO_PROXY and no_proxy.  

Some commands like apt-get, ability will not use the environment variables. So you will have to enter the proxies in /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/

Acquire::http::proxy "";

Acquire::ftp::proxy "";

Acquire::https::proxy "";    

Restart the ServiceNav Box
