Do you need help?

Notification is a means of informing a contact or a group of contacts of a status change of a host, service or user service.

A contact can be a ServiceNav user. It can also be a user without access to the ServiceNav application.

A contact can be notified during its its notification period, for all or a sub-set of valid status changes either as soon as the status changes or after several validation checks of the status change have been made.

A contact defined at company level will be able to be notified for hosts, services and user services associated with that company. A contact may also be notified for hosts, services and user services associated with the company's underlying sites.

Contact groups contain contacts. Contact groups are defined at company level. They cannot be defined at site level. They can however, contain contacts that are defined at the site level within a company.

To establish the overall notification policy for a company, follow the procedure:

  1. Define notification time slots
  2. Define notification contacts
  3. Configuring Contact Groups
  4. Configure Notifications for Hosts
  5. Define the notification policy for a service
  6. Define the notification policy for a user service
