Monitoring a Veeam Job goes through several steps:
- Configure access to the Veeam database from the ServiceNavBox
- Putting the job under supervision
Supervision of the database
The entire procedure described here should be followed: Configure the supervision of an MS SQL Server database
In particular, fill in the /etc/freetds.conf file correctly;
To do this, connect to the box with Putty.
Once on the box, switch to the root account with the command :
sudo su -
Start editing the file
nano /etc/freetds.conf
Add at the bottom of the file the server connection elements
[VEEAM] host = @IP of the Veeam server port = TCP/IP port of the SQL instance on the SQL server (usually 1433) instance = name of the SQL instance on the SQL server tds version = 8.0 (or 7.0 depending on the SQL Server version)
Exit the file by pressing ctrl + X , enter O and press enter
Test the connection with the following command:
telnet @IP of the Veeam server instance port (e.g.: telnet 192.168.10.22 1433)
If the connection is blocked, check your configuration and/or your firewall on the network and/or the windows firewall
Putting the job under supervision
We recommend to use the service template: Veeam-Job-Status
It should be set up like this:
Server Name: Value indicated between [ ] in the freetds.conf file
Supervisory account: Fill in the MSSQL account or use the legacy account
Database name: Specify the database name (different from the SQL instance name). Usually VeeamBackup
Indicate the analysis period: If the job runs every day, indicate 01d00h00m
Job name: Copy from Veeam
Backup type: Set the type, among those proposed in the contextual help (from ServiceNav version 4.1, this field is not mandatory anymore)
