How to configure the SNMP service on an alcatel switch?

Configuring SNMP

To configure SNMP on an Alcatel switch, you have to use the command line.

To do this, connect to the device via SSH or telnet, then copy/paste the following command lines after editing them according to your infrastructure:

IP service SNMP
user snmpuser password supervision read-only all no auth
aaa authentication snmp "local
snmp security no security
snmp community map "public" user "snmpuser" on
snmp station <the IP of the ServiceNav box 161> "snmpuser" v2 enable

Example:

snmp station 192.168.1.1 "snmpuser" v2 enable

Check for correct operation

We check the correct operation and save the configuration:

write memory
copy working certified
